Yesterday's Thoughts, Today's Plans

One can’t help avoiding the sting of sitting out yesterday when a beautiful tube touched down in Colorado adding to my ever-growing missed Colorado tornado count.  Still, it was my own choice as I have been under the weather the last few days and the break after nearly 7 straight weeks on the road was a welcome one.  Still, watching streams on TWC and seeing the photos pouring in makes me wish I had felt a bit better yesterday.  Alas, I’ll sit back and enjoy the imagery without too much complaining as I have seen/done more than my share of good days over the last few weeks and missing this event allowed me to step in and help Dann Cianca and Scott Hammel reward their efforts and on yesterday’s supreme catch.  Below is a video snippet from Dann Cianca (more from Dann here) and Scott Hammel (more from Scott here) posted by Doug Kiesling..

Today is another questionable day in terms of me chasing.  SPC issued an MD mentioning an upgrade to moderate risk across the NE/IA border area.  That target is out of reach for me right now, thus I am giving some consideration to the Nebraska Panhandle, northeast Colorado, and southwestern Nebraska.  There isn’t a lot to like about my area, but one could probably make a decent target out of North Platte if things did pan out a bit.  Still, not feeling 100% and I feel as if I could use the day to wrap up some domestic errands.  The other side of the token is the rather dull pattern setting up after this.  This could viably be the last real chase day for a while.  Of course, quiet patterns seem to do well for front range action, so perhaps I’ll get a few locals in over the next week before (hopefully) the pattern picks back up again.

With a 3-hour drive to just about any spot in my target region, I can afford another hour or so here at home before heading out the door.  I’m definitely leaning on sitting today out all together, but I have my gear on standby in case I see something in a RUC run or the HRRR that points me out the door.  Otherwise, I intend to wrap up some stuff here at home for today.

Obviously I’ll post my decision either way…
