Tonight kicks off what oughta be a very fun and event-filled weekend that’s highlighted by the annual National Storm Chaser Convention here in Denver. With a multitude of chasers convergencing on Denver today, my good buddy, Dann Cianca, organized our monthly convergence get-together for this evening at the Old Chicago here in Lodo. If the Facebook invites hold any truth, three dozen people are expected to pack into the resturant tonight for a gathering of weather weenies from not only Denver, but across the country. In fact, even a few Colorado chasers are expected to make their first appearance at one of these. I believe this will be my forth or fifth one of these.
Tomorrow evening kicks off the conference itself with the ice-breaker before Saturday’s talk-filled day. Sunday is a half day before winding down with the NWS Boulder storm spotter training. Given I attended that last year’s training on top of the TESSA spotter training I will get in March, I will likely pass on this in return for heading home. Given the usual lack of sleep I have during this weekend, I anticipate wanting to go home and crash after the party-filled weekend.
I’ll do the usual blogging and picture posting as the weekend progresses, so you can add me to the lenghty list of bloggers from this conference. I don’t promise anything spectacular or different from what you’ll find on other chaser blogs, but its always fun to share the experience. More than anything, I am looking forward to seeing a lot of chaser friends whom I’m lucky to share a passing hello with in the thick of chasing season!
