Back home and at work after returning yesterday evening from our 1500 plus mile bust in Oklahoma. The choice to not chase Thursday was a good one considering my target sat in Illinois and would've missed out on most of the tornadoes. Not to mention storm speeds and of course the massive haul back. No complaints on coming home yesterday.
As I said earlier this week, my chasing season is probably over, and with more certainty, I think its more true now as we're now approaching the end of October. In fact, we're expecting our first snow here in Denver on Sunday with this next system sweeping through. A lot of cold air from the north coming down with it, so we're expecting temps to drop enough to support a few inches of snow at lower elevations. We'll see how that all pans out, but that's usually a pretty good sign of the end of the chasing season for me.
If a monster outbreak appears possible in the off-season, pending what hoops need to be jumped through, I may catch a flight the morning of and chase. This would definitely be true if this were in or around Ohio, my old stomping grounds. Otherwise, I will dismantle the van this weekend and pack up the gear for the season. Sitting just shy of 34,000 miles after cranking out 1,559 mile on this run, my tenth chase of 1,000 plus miles this season and my 57th chase overall this season which was the FIRST in Oklahoma outside the panhandle.
My chase log will be up shortly, and I'll post it here when it does go live. In the meantime, cranking out the final pieces of the Storms of 2007 chapter I am doing and am eager to wrap up production on that to make way for my many other projects which are looming large.
