Its a nice cozy Thursday evening at home, relaxing to Richard Elliot and Chris Camozzi and fiddling with my new toy; first time in ages we've seen anything that resembled winter today; cold and blustery. You really don't realize how nice its been til you get one of these days in the midst of it. Actually a chance of snow towards Sunday and beyond; nothing substantial, but a reminder from Nature that it IS January.

As I mentioned, my new toy. Ham Radio Outlet (HRO) sent my radio to me today; took under 24 hours to receive, which is awesome, even considering they're store in Aurora sent it to me. But none-the-less, it was as fast as it could be. Took it out and played with the hardware aspects, tinkering with the remote hookups and checking things out. Also assembled the antenna and have it ready to mount roof-side on Saturday. It's a bit shorter than my last one, but its tuned and ready to go according to the good folks over at HRO; ready to receive both the 2m and 70cm bands. I should've pitched a few bucks to get the external speaker seeing as I am going to mount the radio elsewhere with the remote package. Thinking I'll go cheaper with that and mount the speaker someplace close to the driver seat.

I've also shopped around for consoles, but am waiting to get the van so I can take measurments and see what space I have between the seats. Once I get that settled, I'll buy/order one I see fit and set that up as I like it. I'll probably mount the speaker to that or the Jotto Desk.

So one more day before I get the new ride. I'm actually excited as hell about the new ride. Very anxious to get into her and set her up! While the first official road trip will be for the TESSA meeting, I may sneak a trip to Texas if the Skins make it to the Superbowl. Why? I have to watch that one with my Dad, so maybe a sneak peak of the ride's performance on the road. We'll see about that, though.

I am going to aquire some help from Verne who I dubbed as Luigi yesterday. I'll probably head up to this place on a Sunday in the next couple weeks to get his assistance in setting up the gear. Still in the mail, the inverter and Jotto Desk mounts. Still waiting to be ordered, the CB/WX radio and center console. Once those are clear, I'm all set. I imagine the CB/WX radio will be a purchase after the insurance is finalized. I'll be a bit tight after I write away $2725 on top of the $4000 I wrote last week. Such is life... good news, after Saturday, my payments end! :o)
